Night Life
Ahhh. Here we go! Everyone wants to know where to let their hair down when on vacation. Well Cancun we aren't, but you can always find a place to go and have a cold one and a dance and such.

The following map shows a number of bars & night clubs, in a manner of speaking. I mean, you can buy beer anywhere and everywhere. Every single eatery of all types sells drinks. But the places I have included are places I would think of if I wanted to go out for a drink and some form of entertainment, usually. Many of these same places are listed as restaurants because I might choose to go there simply for a meal as well. That's how I drew the line in the sand anyhow.

The locals live to 'lime' and music/dancing is a huge part of the social culture here. You can't count the little rum shops around the island where the beer is always cold (and cheap - $1 US/$2.50EC each if you drink 'em there) and the music is always crankin'. I have stopped for a cold one at almost all the little shops on the main road around the island. Some are definitely more inviting than others and some make you feel like staying for a while while others don't. So long as you do not venture too far off the beaten track, you should feel plenty safe, especially in the daytime.

The bus/ferry terminal is another great place to grab a cheap beer if you need one through the day. Jimmy's bar overlooking the Circus is another fine place to relax, cool off and just watch Basseterre for a minute thorugh the day or evening.

At night, it is recommeded to stay more around Basseterre - Frigate Bay area, which is where almost all the night spots are anyway. I have partied at pretty much every nite club on the island at one time or another and have never seen much of anything as far as violent incidents are concerned. I have seen far worse on a regular Friday night in my own hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, trust me.But that also doesn't mean I would send a couple of tourists to the Pumpkin either :)

Just click around the following map to see some pictures and details on what to expect at some of the more popular nightspots. I've also added my own 2¢ worth, of course :)

You should also check these links as they include many other activities going on at night that may or may not be centered around the 'bar scene'.
